The result depends on what happens before the needle ever comes out. Every appointment opens with a real conversation – your piercer wants to know what you are picturing and whether your anatomy will cooperate. Here is roughly how it goes:

Aftercare is not complicated; it just asks for consistency. At least twice a day, clean the spot with sterile saline and gently soak off any crust that has formed. Wash your hands before you go anywhere near it, and leave the jewellery alone – no twisting, no spinning. Keep makeup, skincare, and hair products off the area while it heals. Avoid pools, hot tubs, lakes, and other shared water while the piercing is fresh, and ask your piercer when swimming is safe for your specific healing stage. Most people describe a quick, sharp pinch that is over almost before it starts. Cartilage feels a touch more intense than soft tissue, but it is brief, and the vast majority of clients find it far easier than they expected.
