Sometimes, your passion falls in your lap when you least expect it. Adam first got his start as a receptionist for the front desk of a tattoo studio, eventually working his way up to manager before he was asked:
“Want to become a piercer?”
While he had never considered the position, the offer was intriguing and eventually led to an exciting apprenticeship.
The Ups And Downs Of His New Career
Becoming a piercer was a thrilling and challenging journey. Adam was nervous handling piercing tools at first, leading him to make a few lifestyle changes to better help his clients.
He cut out caffeine, confronted his fears about potentially hurting clients, and eventually became comfortable with his new career field. As he studied and practiced, he learned common misconceptions around piercings, such as the myth that they’re always painful. In reality, most piercings are so fast and the tools so sharp, most clients barely feel them.
What He Loves Most About His Work As A Piercer
Adam loves several aspects about piercing, from the passionate community to meeting new clients. He loves hanging out with piercers and tattoo artists, regularly visiting conventions to network and bond with like-minded creatives.
